Providing in-home pediatric speech therapy services throughout London, St. Thomas, and Elgin County.
About Me

Hi! I’m Kayla Flesher, a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist with a Master of Clinical Science degree from the University of Western Ontario. I love helping children discover their strengths and connect with the people around them in a fun, supportive environment. My approach is family-centered, and I believe children learn best when they feel safe, encouraged, and free to be themselves in each therapy session.

I have over ten years of experience working with preschool and school-aged children with a wide range of communication needs, including articulation and phonological disorders, motor speech disorders, early language delay, language and literacy disorders, and fluency disorders (stuttering). I have also supported children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, and other developmental differences, and I am a strong advocate for the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to help every child find their voice.

I’m committed to ongoing learning so I can provide the best possible care for the families I work with. I am certified in Hanen’s It Takes Two to Talk®, a family-focused program for young children with language delays, as well as the Lidcombe Program, an evidence-based treatment for young children who stutter.

Originally from Vancouver, I now call London home. Outside of work, I love spending time in the kitchen trying out new recipes and keeping up with my energetic one-year-old, who certainly keeps life fun and busy! Becoming a parent has given me an even greater appreciation for the joys and challenges families experience, and I strive to create a supportive space where both children and parents feel heard and encouraged.

I enjoy making therapy a positive experience for both children and their families. I believe that meaningful learning happens through play, connection, and laughter. You’ll often find me sitting on the floor getting silly, celebrating every success, and making sure your child feels excited for my visits!

My Services

Assessment

My assessments are designed to be relaxed, engaging, and child-friendly while giving us a complete picture of your child's communication skills. After the assessment, we'll walk through the results together, answer your questions, and create a personalized plan tailored to your child's areas of need.

Therapies

Difficulties saying certain sounds clearly or coordinating the movements needed for speech as seen in motor speech disorders such as Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Goals may include improving sound accuracy, speech clarity, and confidence when communicating.

Articulation

Difficulties understanding what others say or expressing themselves with language. Language goals may include basic concepts, following directions, using age-appropriate grammar, etc.

Language

Difficulties with reading, writing, spelling, or early literacy skills. Goals may focus on phonological awareness, including rhyming, identifying speech sounds, blending sounds together to make words, and breaking words into smaller parts to build strong reading and spelling foundations.

Literacy

Stuttering may be characterized by repeating sounds, syllables, or words, prolonging sounds, or "blocks" within speech (making no sound at all). Strategies are beneficial not only for the individual with a stutter but also for their communication partner.

Stuttering

Children communicate in many ways and for many reasons, such as requesting, sharing ideas, expressing feelings, greeting others, making choices, and answering questions. Some children may not be able to use words to express themselves, but may use gestures, facial expressions, or actions to share their needs. For children who need support communicating with spoken words, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) can provide support through tools such as pictures, communication boards, or speech-generating devices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I require a referral to receive your services?

No referral is needed! If you have concerns about your child’s speech, language, or communication skills, you can contact me directly. I’m always happy to answer your questions and help you decide whether a speech and language assessment would be beneficial.

What does a therapy session look like?

Every therapy session is tailored to your child’s unique interests and strengths. I use a play-based, child-led approach, which means we work on communication goals through fun, meaningful activities. This helps keep children engaged and motivated, while also allowing us to build a trusting relationship that supports the best opportunities for learning.

Do you offer direct billing?

At this time, I don’t offer direct billing. After payment has been received, I’ll provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Do I have coverage for speech therapy services?

Most extended health benefit plans include coverage for speech-language pathology services. Because every plan is different, I recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage and reimbursement amounts before your appointment.

What is your service area?

I’m based in Southwest London and provide in-home services in Central, South, and West London, St. Thomas, and parts of Elgin and Middlesex Counties. Not sure if you’re within my service area?
